You Promised 04:12
you've got a jealous heart don't wanna be a part of anything you didn't have from the start 'cause you say so and we are a broken toy unfit for a girl or boy refusing anything that could bring us joy if you say so and you and I are working through something yeah you and I are working through something here you promised me that things would change but you and I ever more the same but I can learn to stand without you now but I still fall down sometimes I'm learning to hold my tongue don't wanna be outdone you see it in the faces of everyone I suppose so adrift on a silent haze I've been underneath for days and you can feel if coming from miles away with your eyes closed and you and I are working through something yeah you and I are working through something here you promised me that things would change but you and I ever more the same but I can learn to stand without you now but I still fall down sometimes You've got a jealous heart... Yeah, you've got a jealous heart... you promised me that things would change but you and I ever more the same but I can learn to stand without you now but I still fall down sometimes

'75, twin cinema plaza painting lines on the sidewalks in the summer as I recall your pockets were always empty always bumming rides to the old arcade downtown sometimes I wonder whatever happened to you? sometimes I wonder if you're still out there somewhere yeah I wonder whatever happened to you? whatever happened to you? summertime sky blazing down on the highway a mile from the curve where your friend took a turn too fast at seventeen years I can leave you behind now and one day we'll all look back on this and laugh sometimes I wonder whatever happened to you? sometimes I wonder if you're still out there somewhere yeah I wonder whatever happened to you? whatever happened to you? and you were waiting for me impatiently you couldn't wait for me to get here how did we get here? sometimes I wonder whatever happened to you? sometimes I wonder if you were ever really me? and I wonder whatever happened to you? whatever happened to you?

so you've come to set me straight an irresistible disaster so hold me up against the others maybe we'll both find what we're after 'cause it doesn't take much it hardly takes anything to make me feel like a ghost these days invisible ethereal so place a gold star by my name so say you want to keep me safe 'cause I want to be someone worth saving but I'm always leaving one door open for whenever you get tired of waiting 'cause it doesn't take much it hardly takes anything to make me feel like a ghost these days invisible ethereal so place a gold star by my name cut away these ropes and skin that tie us down and hem us in did you think I'd fall for that again? and all the things I've ever wanted were things that needed to be given another house been doused for burning just blame it on another bad decision 'cause it doesn't take much it hardly takes anything to make me feel like a ghost these days invisible ethereal so place your gold star by my name

the sun sinks slips behind the clouds and I’ve been driving around for hours in this city where we met so long ago and the streets here hum like wires and the last 12 years unwind I am haunting the old places we would go and I can’t invent the words to say how much it meant just to be there beside you breathing in each moment that we spent and we had a good thing you told me so but what did I know? what did I know? yeah we had a good thing but we let it go so what do I know? what do I know? the waves crash against the pier and I’ve been gone all these years a familiar skyline holds no sense of mystery and you’re fading in and out like a signal, like the radio the shadows of the long-forgotten ghosts we used to be and I never had a reason I should feel so sad you can have every street and sidewalk if you wanted them so bad and we had a good thing you told me so but what did I know? what did I know? yeah we had a good thing but we let it go so what do I know? what do I know? and I guess this city’s big enough without you and I guess this city’s big enough without you and we had a good thing you told me so but what did I know? what did I know? yeah we had a good thing but we let it go so what do I know? what do I know?

Note To Self 04:07
to whom it may concern it's time to call your bluff the hardest thing to learn is you don't want it bad enough so lay the pen to rest and commit to saner things and leave those strings to rust another busted set of wings and you fall behind waiting for some planets to align so what are you gonna do with your time? yeah what are you gonna do with your time? daylight slips away and you feel it creeping in the faces and the names of every place you've never been and conscience is a curse which you've never understood but it won't add up to much and always nothing good but there's no crime deciding where you want to draw that line so what are you gonna do with your time? tell me what are you gonna do with your time? cutting corners to find a shortcut to some truth part the curtain put this daylight to some use and I think it's fine deciding you don't want to change your mind so what are you gonna do with your time? yeah what are you gonna do with your time? tell me what are you gonna do with your time?
